The
Ventura County Fairgrounds attract more than 260,000 people to its annual fair with the help of more than 1,000 volunteers. During the year, the Fair hosts privately sponsored exhibits and events nearly every weekend and national competitions
The Fair also acts as an emergency center for residents and animals evacuated from wildfires and other disasters. The Thomas Fire in 2017, and the Mountain Fire in 2024 were the most recent. During the COVID pandemic in 2020-22 residents lined up for their vaccinations in the fairgrounds parking lot.
